The Latest IBE Anthology Preserves The Biggest Indie Beauty Expo Yet For Posterity

The New York edition of Indie Beauty Expo (IBE) in August was a watershed moment for two-year-old Indie Beauty Media Group (IBMG), IBE’s producer. It was the company’s biggest trade show ever, attracting 227 brands from more than 20 countries for two days at Manhattan’s Skylight Clarkson.

For those who missed the record-breaking show, IBMG has just released its interactive digital show book called Anthology. “I can’t wait to see Anthology after each Expo—all the highlights from the show are in there, compiled beautifully,” says Indie Beauty Expo co-founder Jillian Wright. “This Anthology, after our third New York and biggest ever IBE, is incredible. After this whirlwind year, to see how far we’ve come in just two years, the number and caliber of brands that exhibited, the volume of press from the most coveted outlets and the programming from industry leaders is so inspiring. It is proof that the indie beauty community is building itself.”

This latest edition of Anthology lists all 227 beauty, wellness and lifestyle brands that exhibited in New York and showcases 21 of these brands in two-page spreads featuring original product photography. Anthology also includes highlights from the show’s press coverage as well as an overview of CONNECT INDIE NY 2017, IBMG’s day of entrepreneurial education that took place on Aug. 22 at Skylight Modern. The brand, press and programming coverage is complemented with original photos of not only the exhibitors, but also the 2,000 attendees from the three days of events.

“After our first show in August of 2015, we realized that there was something very special about IBE. Specifically, the energy and spirit of an incredible group of creators, innovators and entrepreneurs all coming together under one roof,” explains Indie Beauty Expo co-founder Nader Naeymi-Rad. “So we wanted to find a way to honor this community and memorialize everyone’s participation—whether it be brands, buyers or press—by documenting what we were all able to achieve together at each IBE. We also wanted to provide those who could not attend the show, especially buyers, a summary of the show and an opportunity to discover or rediscover some of the exhibiting brands.”

IBMG will produce a limited hardcover run of Anthology to be sent for free to a select group of VIP buyers. Though 2017 was the first year IBMG released three editions of Anthology—to commemorate the LA, Dallas and New York shows—the addition of an October 2018 London IBE will bring the total editions of Anthology published next year up to four. All signs point to five editions—and five Indie Beauty Expo trade shows—for 2019. “We have come a long way,” declares Naeymi-Rad. “Our success and positive feedback from the IBE community has emboldened us to move forward even more quickly.”
